Cathryn Fox --Award winning author

Press Release

Christine d’Abo is a newly published author, who is fortunate to be beginning her publishing career with Ellora’s Cave. Writing has always been an important part of Christine’s life and she is thrilled to have accomplished her goal of publication.

When Christine isn’t dealing with the multitude of story ideas bouncing around in her head, she’s working at her day job, or driving her children between soccer games. Christine is an active member in her local RWA chapter.

Christine writes dark and sexy futuristic romances, as well as paranormal and light contemporaries.

"Ms. d'Abo definitely knows her stuff."
~ CoffeeTime Romance

It took Christine longer than average to figure out what she wanted to be when she grew up. When she was home on maternity leave, she decided to take a stab at saving her sanity and sat down to write a romance novel. After dabbling with various sub genres she realized she really enjoyed creating strange new worlds and writing about sex. Whether due to the pregnancy hormones or sleep deprivation she thought this was a great combination.

Many years later her kids are in school and she’s back at her day job, but the writing bug is here to stay. When not torturing her characters, she’s busy playing with her children or conducting “research” with her husband.

"Christine d'Abo, don't miss this hot new author!"

What is your favorite color?
My favorite color is green. Not sure why, but it always calms me down.

What is your favorite quote?
“Books are a uniquely portable magic” Stephen King

What is your favorite pastime?
Reading, baking, gardening, and spending time with my family.

What music do you listen to?
I have very wide musical tastes. I love rock and roll, dance music, anything that you’d hear at a kitchen party. Some of my favorite groups are Dave Matthews Band, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Maroon Five, Matthew Good, Stablio, and Great Big Sea.

What is your favorite kind of movies?
I love movies that make me feel something: laugh, cry, or gasp. I love movies that make me forget that I’m watching them, drawing me into the story. Some of my favorites are Phantom of the Opera, 300, Memento, Pride and Prejudice, Jacob’s Ladder, and Silence of the Lambs.

What books do you like to read?
I switch between reading romance (erotic, historical, futuristic or paranormal) and science fiction or fantasy. I gravitate towards books that have strong heroes and heroines that are smart and savvy. I love to see the battle of wills unfold on the pages.

What are you reading now?
I’ve just finished up Rises The Night by Colleen Gleason. I’ve recently also read Jacob and Gideon by Jacquelyn Frank, Alien Overnight by Robin Rotham, Spin Devil by Red Garnier, and Destiny By Design by Wylie Kinson.

What are your favorite scenes to write?
I love to write the love scenes! But more than that, I love writing the struggle the hero and heroine face as they are being drawn towards the consummation of their relationship. I think you really learn a lot about a person in those moments leading to sex. Who you are becomes laid bare for the other person.

Who are your favorite authors?
There are so many. Colleen Gleason, Stephen King, Mary Balogh, Julia Quinn, J.R. Ward, Cathryn Fox, Jacquelyn Frank, just to name a few.

What is your favorite genre to write?
I really enjoy writing erotic futuristic and paranormal stories. For me it’s the idea blend of genres that I’ve loved for years.

What are your favorite books on writing?
I think some of the most useful books for me have been Stephen King’s On Writing, The Gotham Writers Workshop, and The Hero’s Journey by Christopher Vogler.

What advice can your give for an aspiring writer?
Don’t give up on your dream. No matter what. Rejection letters sting, finding time in your busy life to write is hard, but don’t give up. This is something you’ve wanted, dreamed about. You can make it happen.

Where do you get your ideas?
I’m a thinker and a dreamer. I’ve gotten several ideas from reoccurring dreams I’ve had over the years. Sometimes they come when I’m driving home from work, just letting my mind wander and ask the question, “what if?”

What do you do in your spare time?
I have no spare time! Between writing, working and spending time with my family, my life is very busy. I do take time to watch a little TV and get outside to garden. I love my TV shows.
